MDA says hello and waves goodbye

The MDA is very pleased to welcome three new organisations into the Alliance.

  • Powerhouse is an organisation of women with learning difficulties. We are committed to women’s rights in providing advocacy, support, training, and raising awareness of issues which affect women with learning difficulties.
  • The Rett Syndrome Association (UK) offer information, advice, practical help, friendship and support to people with Rett syndrome, their families and carers. Rett Syndrome is a complex neurological disorder, affecting mainly girls and can lead to profound and multiple disability.
  • Different Stokes is a charity set up by younger stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors.

The MDA is also saying goodbye to one of its Co-Chairs, Toby Williamson, who is going on an 18 month secondment to the Department for Constitutional Affairs to assist them with the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act.

Toby has been an excellent Co-Chair for the last 18 months so we wish him well, but doubtless we will continue to have contact with him in his new role as a central part of it is communicating and engaging with organisations affected by the Act.
